Vegpro International of Sherrington, QC CAN has recalled Fresh Attitude Baby Spinach. 5oz and 11oz boxes with Best Before dates of Dec 4th (for 11oz) and Dec 4th & 5th (for the 5oz) are recalled as they have the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella.
These products were produced in Vegpro’s Eastern Canadian plant and were distributed ONLY in Eastern Canada and Northeastern United States (NY, NJ, DE, CT, MD, & PA ).
The recall was initiated after an investigation discovered that the spinach was contaminated with Salmonella.
an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Healthy persons infected with Salmonella often experience fever, diarrhea (which may be bloody), nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. In rare circumstances, infection with Salmonella can result in the organism getting into the bloodstream and producing more severe illnesses such as arterial infections (i.e., infected aneurysms), endocarditis and arthritis
